Communication
There are several ways that we can work together to enhance the patient’s experience in our practice. We have found that communication is the key to accurately fulfilling your and your patient’s expectations of us. Please feel free to contact us by phone or email if you have any special requests or information that you need to relate about your patient’s care. Accurately filling out the referral forms we have supplied to your office and sending them by mail or along with the patient will help us to fulfill your expectations. It is especially helpful if you can fill out the area relating to the final disposition of the case. Whether you want us to simply temporize the case for your restoration, place a final intra-coronal restoration, or place a post and core when appropriate, we are happy to fulfill your instructions. Please note that we are not equipped to place cast custom type post and cores and if your patient needs one, you will need to place that for them.
Emergencies
We will make every effort to appoint emergency cases (such as severe tooth pain of endodontic origin) on the same day that you call. In rare instances, it is possible that we may not be able to do so, and thus pain management protocols can be instituted in your office prior to the patient’s appointment. Whether it is long lasting local anesthetic, oral analgesic, or antibiotic therapy, we can help you decide which protocol will make your patient most comfortable until treatment can be rendered.
Patient Instructions
By giving the patient specific information about their endodontic visit, you can help us to meet your patient’s expectations. A full diagnostic workup will be performed on each patient at the initial visit, including radiographs and periodontal probing. Since we require multiple angles of view, even if you send a radiograph to us, the patient will most likely need one or more to complete the diagnosis. Also, because AHA guidelines specify that periodontal probing requires antibiotic prophylaxis in patients susceptible to bacterial endocarditis or prosthetic joint infection, please ensure that these patients will be given an appropriate prophylactic dose prior to appointments, even if treatment is not anticipated.
Health History
We can provide your patients with the highest standard of care only if we have an accurate medical history. Please encourage your patients who use the Internet to log onto this website at www.endoaz.com to fill out their patient history forms. It is easy for them to do and our encryption technology will ensure privacy of their personal information. Also, it will expedite the registration process and help us to return them to you in a timely manner. There are times, however, when an especially complicated health history or difficult diagnosis may render endodontic treatment at the initial appointment impossible. Your patient should be informed of this.
